In relation with the goal of the specialized subject Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship which is to integrate applied social sciences into community-action initiatives, last October 8 – 11, 2019 Community outreach program was held at Montserrat Subdivision, Brgy. Sto. Angel Sur, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. With the support of dear ACTS Family and cooperation of HUMSS 12 students, as well as the partnering Barangay it was indeed a success.

Sto. Angel Sur Elementary School had a warm welcome to Ms. Harley Queenie Flores, Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship subject teacher along with Mr. Joemar Gonzales before starting the program. The school was very participative. They even provided sound system and table for the said event.

HUMSS 12 – Love was the first section to facilitate their outreach program entitled, “ACTSarap: Feeding our Future”. After the opening prayer, they conducted fun games that Kinder and Grade 1 students genuinely enjoyed. HUMSS Love hosted “Newspaper Dance” and “Matching Body Parts”. The children were motivated every time they get a prize. They are very hands – on with taking care of the kids all throughout the program. They have prepared spaghetti and sandwiches. Then, the President of the class, Mr. Mico Amparo had his closing remarks preceded by the closing prayer.

On the following day, HUMSS 12 – Hope conducted theirs entitled “The God’s Work Wonders”. Grade 2 and Grade 3 students were the participants of the activity. After the opening prayer, the President of the class, Ms. Jenesis Alarcos did her opening remarks. Then they have facilitated “Group Yourself” game. HUMSS 12 Hope prepared sopas and sandwiches for the event. The children were motivated every time they get a prize. Humanistas were very dedicated on taking care of the kids. They would run after children who plays around. After all the fun, they have ended the program with an appreciation speech and closing prayer.

HUMSS 12 – Faith conducted their outreach on the 3rd day of the program entitled “ACTStistas in ACTion”. Same as the other preceding section, they started with opening prayer. On this day, Ms. Harley Queenie Flores explained why they are sharing foods with the kids. Grade 3 and 4 actively participated on “Hep Hep Hooray”. Every one enjoyed “Trip to Jerusalem” as well. That day’s snack was sopas and spanish bread. The children loved the prizes that they have received from HUMSS 12 – Faith. Ending the fun was the appreciation speech of the vice president of the class, Ms. Jovonne Dailo followed by a closing prayer.

On the last day of the community outreach program, HUMSS 12 – Joy and Wisdom facilitated together. Grade 4 and 5 students actively participated. HUMSS 12 – Joy’s “Makulay ang Buhay sa Sinabawang Sopas” aimed to feed the children sopas and sandwiches while HUMSS 12 – Wisdom’s “kaACTkibat sa Wisdomazing na Kalusugan” aimed to feed the children white spaghetti. These two sections collaborated with their fun activities but had their individual prizes for each participant. HUMSS 12 Joy prepared a dance number that the children did enjoy. Humanistas ended their program with the closing remarks of both president, Ms. Gene Malabanan and Mr. John Roman.

It was very fulfilling to see the children smile. Every time that there would be games, Humanistas have observed how delighted and excited the kids are. HUMSS 12 students along with Ms. Harley Queenie Flores and the very supportive College Director, Prof. Ruben Macalinao and the hands – on SHS Principal, Dr. Eric P. Castillo were glad of the opportunity given to the school to help these children.

After all, ACTS Computer College always wanted to share the blessings from God through good works that is not just for physical wellness but mental wellness as well – it is always about how the kids smile.

To GOD be the Glory.
